A short list with all the monsters & other opponents so far encountered in the World of Rythanis.
Shadow assasins -
Quick warriors of the dark, adept in the art of dealing a painful death. Two of them made an attempt to assasinate the King of Shandon but they were defeated by Alsdair and Eckt. They have not been spotted since then.
Frost troll -
Huge, bulky, blue beasts with an incredible rage. They can breathe out frost through their mouth. They use this to paralyse and freeze opponents. Found near mount Kraken and several other cold mountains in the Jolmine.
Goblins -
Wretched, green little scum always trying to produce trouble. Their uprisings have laid waste to several of the villages of Rythanis. The remaining northern villages have united to form the Northern Union. The head quarters of the N.U are at Foirin.
Orcs -
These greenish brutes are close relatives of the Goblins. Yet the two races have been at war for hundreds of years. Only recently did they declare peace with the goblins. Yet, they have not left their war-like ways and now battle with Mermadons, Elves and Humans alike.
Wyvern -
A deadly beast that was first encountered by a pair of travellers who were trying to retrieve an ancient relic.
It is a primitive Dragon form that is used as a vehicle of war by necromancers.
Sabre Tooth Tigers -
Survivors from an Ice age, these animals inhabit the cold, snowcapped Jolmine mountains. They have been known to attack humans.
Warg Riders -
Wargs were, for a long time, considered to be an extinct animal. However, the orcs of the Ras Kar forest have been breeding this species for over a hundred years. Warg riders are able warriors and are skilled in the art of intimidating an opponent.
Pirates -
Pirates are, unfortunately, a very real danger for trade ships travelling beween Shandon and the island of Tezar. Battle ships in Rythanis carry cannons. However, gunpowder is of very low quality and cannot be used in manufacturing bullets and other ammunition. As a result Rythanis is a largely gunless world and warriors usualy use weapons like spears, swords and axes.
Demons -
There are several demonic groups throughout Rythanis. Eg, The Rebels, the demons of the Ras Kar forest etc.
Scylla-
These are large creatures inhabiting the lake of Osirin. They posses huge tentacles, which they use to pluck unsuspecting victims off ships.
Skrewgane-
A race of creatures that were exiled from Fiorin and now live in dirty mud made huts. The have a coiled figure with spikes on it. They have rocky hands and are very slow yet strong race of people.
Shade-
These are Brual human-like figures that can curse you and destroy anything they want to destroy. They are uniquely strong and quick. Demi-gods have found it difficult to slay a shade. They infest the forest of Ras Kar waiting to kill travellers for fun. They are extremely annoyed if there victims escape from them.
Frost Wyrm-
These are the legendary dragons of Kraken. They can release a blast of icy wind from their throat. They live for over a thousand years. The have a wailing call, much like that of a whale and move with surreal grace. Their heart is said to bring immortality if mixed with certain herbs and juices.
