Whispering to Marr, "Id put the scythe down, if I were you..."
Looking to the town guard, he gives him a level stare and says,"I am Dezhur Kirinn. I journey from across the world. I am a humble trader looking for directions to the nearest major trade stop. These two gentlemen beside me are business partners eager to ensure my safe arrival in the town. I seek to sample some of this lands goods before I may make suitable judgments regarding my future business ventures."
Dezhur broadly gestures to his travelling companions.

"Merchants!" snorted the moustached rider. He sneered derisively, looking down in disgust upon the trio from the back of his brown horse. "You've come to take, have you?" he added in a tone that was needlessly hostile.
"Pray tell, what goods might these be?" inquired the horseman, narrowing his eyes down on Dezhur. As he spoke, he stealthily slid his gauntlet upto the hilt of his rapier. This action was done surreptitiously, but the three were far too vigilant to be hoodwinked. He could draw his armament, quick as lightning, at any given moment.

A quick glance was spared for the rapier by his side. Luckily Dezhur was already sweating he wouldn't betray his unease.
Reaching calmly behind back he pulled out his alchemical set.
With a rasp of metal on metal the aged case creaked open to reveal glimmering flasks and retorts deeply embedding in the soft fur wrappings. He shut the case though quickly.
"Mustn't let the humid air touch my instruments. After all I'm nothing without them," giving the guard a crooked smile.
"I deal in potions - to see those wares you'll have to pay to see because all I have on me are the ingredients. I've come to see if there's a better market here than down south. And maybe to pick up some new recipes. Never know what you might learn up here in these lofty hills," a perfunctory nod to the mountains.

[glow=green,1,10]*Escape could be easily managed if the situation gets tense. All I would have to do is join those fish gills to Kravis' and Dezhur's necks and attach them to their respiratory system. I myself could take flight. We could rendezvous on the other side of the lake. But while we are not under threat, it would be wise to converse with these guards.*[/glow] Marr puts his scythe down and says, "Dear sir, do not be mistaken by our apperances, for they are often deceiving. We dress in such a way so as to keep away thieves and scoundrels. Our clothes are used to instigate fear in those that would be our enemies. It is always better to be cautious while travelling to unknown lands. Also, since we were travelling to these parts, the King of Shandon asked us to locate a missing knight."

"A missing knight? potion selling?" laughed the Guard, "Make up your mind."
A wry, diabolical smile began spreading beneath the broad and black umbrella of his moustache. He was callous in his speech. They heard him mutter something under his breath about their poor fashion sense.
"A mix of motives, I see. Shandon has no business sending search parties into the Duke's territory. Perhaps your intrusion might have been acceptable, had Osirin valley been some lawless forestland, far removed from civilization. But it isnt. The Duke's Mandate reigns supreme in these parts, and we need no assistance from far-flung, imperialistic city-states in the enforcement of law and order in our provinces."
"But you have whetted my curiosity. Who is this lost knight that you seek amidst the tranquil Osirin?"

Marr looks dangerously at the knight, his fury building. He does not like this guards tone and would like to teach him some respect. However, for now he just ignores the guards smirk and answers, " Dear sir, we do not mean to offend the Duke or his royal servants. We are aware of your self-sufficiency in ruling."
He pauses for a second, then continues, "The Knight we seek is none other than Sir Nodik. He was sent to these lands with a message for your Duke. However, he has been gone many weeks and the King is worried of his safety. We have, therefore, come to find him, or to find out what has happened to him."

"That is of course we make it to the capital," Dezhur adds quickly, eager to change the subject.
"I am quite eager to sample the indigenous herbs. It seems that the far flung locals may have built a thriving livelihood around the use of said herbs," he says adding furtive glances once more to the mountains.

The rider closed his eyes, tilted his head at an angle of thirty degrees and ruminated quietly for several moments. Light shone through the boughs of the nearby oaks. It was an intense white.
"Very well, I will inform the Town Guard. You may continue your operations here by the lake." said the man, mildly satisfied with their responses. Then without the slightest partng gesture, he thundered off into the distance. The fisherman still stood by the flickering stove, a little dazed. Silence filled the little clearing.
To the North lie the mountains. To the west lie the marshes To the east and south lie vast rolling plains.

Marr waits until he hears the sounds of the hooves no more. Then without a warning, he swrils around, and hits the fisherman with the butt end of his scythe, right in the middle of his eyebrows. He returns back to his original position as if nothing had happened, his hood still covering his face and siad, "Best not to leave any witnesses of our power."
With that, two wings started growing from his back and they rip through his cloak. "Aww", he groaned, " I lose too many expensive clothes that way, but a mans got to do what a mans got to do"
So saying, Marr takes flight and rises until he can see the whole land under him, like an unfurled map.

High up from his aerial vantage point, Marr could see purplish mountains and great flatlands before him. Like a dark blotch on a green canvas, he saw the marshes. They were covered in a light mist, more humid than that which sheathed the mountains. Faint, burning specks could be seen on the mountain slopes - distant outposts.
The weather seemed rather pleasant, and marr glided over the ground unhindered by cold or wind.

Marr thought for a little bit and then went back to his comrades and said, "There seems to be some sort of outpost to the North. It is our safest bet for information. Also we might find some valuable weapons there that might help us on our quest."
He then withdrew his wings cack into his upper back, leaving thin slits in his cloak.

Kravis seemed unwittingly silent for the past few moments.
"Fool , mindless and senseless violence leads to destruction of mankind!" Kravis yells as Marr starts to fly away.
*After all he himself isn't human*
"We weren't suppose to reveal our enterprise to any guards , fool!" Kravis snaps as Marr goes out of ear shot.
"Why do you always fly away like an idiot. Guards will spot us!He cannot even hear me. He's gonna fly around like an idiot and come back looking like an ass." Kravis sighs.
"Mindless fool" Kravis retorts just before Marr enters ear shot.

((woah, dude. Use your peanut sized brain once in a while. A hit from the BUTT END OF A SCYTHE does not kill people. The guard is just stunned, so that he could not see me take flight. Also, the thing bout the knight got the guards off our back rite? And its better with them informing the authorities so that if someone else saw the knight thay can tell us bout it.))

Marr glances at Kravis and smirks.
*Talk about lower intelligence. But I cant kill him, well atleast not until the mission is over.*
He says, "So are we going North or not?"
