[glow=red,2,300] ishtar roams around the outskirts of the village(of foirin).[/glow] he slowly, yet unwillingly walks up to the castle, he regrets evry step he takes, his heart is heavy.ishtar knocks on the castle door fighting back the feeling of dread of the rumours heard about the castle by the people of foirin. ishtar had long ago gained trust of the villagers after saving them frm goblins, however alsdair was his friend and no news was goin to change that. keeping the scimitar ready in his hand, with his back towards the door, for any sign of movement. he looks at the forest fidgeting, waiting for the door to open. the forest beautiful, yet never at rest:- www.e-cobo.com/wallpapers/forest/forest_4.jpg

"Very well.. Hopefully Alsdair's at home."
Aten shrugs helplessly and says
"He usually isnt."

A helmeted head appeares over the blankets above the gate, two men stare at you for a second before one dissapers. The soldier that remained shouts, - 'STATE YOUR NAMES AND BUSSINES!

Aten frowns, clearly annoyed by the soldier.
"MY NAME IS ATEN! Cant you people ever talk in a polite tone?"

The guard stares at you, his face seems seems to turn into a frown (its hard to tell with the distance) Instead of saying anything he dissapeares, though you hear his shout, - 'DECURION!' There is a pause, a long one during which you get the uncomfortable feeling as if somebody is watching you when suddenly you hear a most fightfull sound, "BOOM!" You jump at it and look towards the castle in time to see a helmeted head look over the battlemet. The head dissapears but you hear a familiar voice shout, - 'LET THEM IN!' The iron covered gate in front of you slowly opens and five men wait there, three of them with crossbows one with halbard one with great sword, though the weapons are not pointed at you. All of them are well armored and hie their faces behind sallets (a type of helmet that covers only the upper head) The one with the great sword speaks, - The Lord Alsdair will see you, follow me. He turns and moves down a long (about fifty meters in length) dark tunnel, the only other exit is a second gate that stands open and you find yourselves in the courtyard, or at least the lower courtyard as above you is the high castle and the grim keep, a reminder that this is a place of war. Looking around the courtyard one can forget that. Numrous children run around screeching like goblins, older children look upon their younger siblings with contempt as the work like their fathers. A number of men are busy sawing blocks of wood, others are nailing them together. The blacksmith is hard at work, forging a red sheet of metal into something, a boy pumping the bellows. Other men are busy leading horses to the well. Some women stand near discussing something heatidly till a crossbowmen walks up and tells them to move. A cat streaks by you and dissapears in a hole. At the far end, near the stairs leading to the high castle, is a wagon being unloaded. You follow your guide to the stairs leading to the battlements down which is coming a group of men, all of them armored, you don't recognise any of them till the one in the front walks briskly towards you. - Well! Aten and Ishtar! To what do I owe this visit? His voice is that of Alsdair's, apparently the acquisition of a castle meant he also had to buy a new suite of armor....

"oh, is that you alsdair, or shall i say lord alsdair, nice new armour you have there", ishtar says then looking sadly at his own."i am sorry but i have some really bad news, for you, the villagers of foirin have been aroused, incited, infuriated by a man named bo'nel. he has spread nasty rumours, that you have been in alligiance to the goblins, and i am really sorry to say that, all evidence points to you. they found a child and a woman murdered in their beds, along side the child was a goblins helmet, and alongside the women, there was a huge chunk of metal, belongin to your old armour. how they knew you were in allegiance, i don't know but they said that they found both murders similar, in two ways, one, there was a slit on the right side of the throat and two on the wall was the same message in both places, 'BEWARE THE WRATH OF THE TRUE AND HOLY CREATURES, THE GOBLINS AND OUR NEW SAVIOUR ALSDAIR.' Someone is framing you and doing it well, i have the faith of the foirin villagers, so i know that a group of around 75 will be here in three days, unfortunately i was the one to give you this news on you recent acquisiton of this splendid castle, what makes it worse this time is that, it's our own people, own flesh and blood we are fighting, sorry old friend, but now you have to decide what to do next."

Alsdair looks at Ishtar, bah evrybody that the news had fell silent, fortunalty those are the men-at-arms. Alsdair turns to the man next to him, - 'Perhaps I should have been politer to them when I demanded them to pay the taxes that belong to me.' - If I may be so bold sir?' - the man began in a quistioning tone, at recieving permission from Asldair he continues, - 'I did suggest to present yourself at the begining as a merciful lord, or a cruel one, but not the medicore option you have chosen.' Alsair nods and than speaks in a stern voice, - Hasten the repairs! I wan't that drawbridge ready by tommorow at the latest! Make stock of the supplies we posses and how long we may enventually hold! And press a rider to the Count Estrich! Inform him that the peasents of Foirin are in rebellion! - The man nods and runs to carry out the orders. Alsair sighs and turns to you two. - Perhaps you two would wish to refresh youselves? You can't expect much but I think theres a soup made and beer is in high amounts. - Not waiting for an answer Alsdair shouts something and boy runs up. - John here will lead to to the hall, and he will inform the cook to ready something for you. I will join you momentarly after I finish here, perhaps you will have some counsel for me. alsdair moves as if to walk off...

Aten follows the boy to the dining hall. He admires the skillfull carvings on the ebony chair before sitting down. In his restlessness, Aten begins drumming on the table.

Not only the chair is carved, everything in the hall is covered with flat carvings, almost all of them depicting knights, maidens and demons. Most of the furniture is new, one can even smell the wood. Light is supplied by a fire in the fireplace and a number of thin windows. The boy rushes off and returns a few minutes later at the head of a small procession. A few girls bring two bowls of some srot of soup (lots of vegetables in it) some slices of black bread, two mugs a flagon of beer and some cheese. After that they leave, though you still catch some looks of interest and some muttered discussions. The sound of the door closing echoes in the hall...

ishtar following the boy, sadly sits at the table, then looking at aten says,"this is getting real ugly real fast, another place we are stuck in huh? lord alsdair is reknown for his courage and heroism, i guess fame isn't a good thing after all. however something i have been pondering over is how the goblins could frame anyone, they have the intellect of a 2 year old after all." with this ishtar sits quietly for the soup to arrive.

Some time passes when the door is opened forcefully and the owner of the castle moves in muttering something. He sits down and without waiting a second begins to talk; - 'I have to send a messenger to my lord that the peasents officialy under my control are in rebellion, but I have informed him that my forces are sufficient to quel this...! The knight stops, calming himself down before contineuing, - My forces are more than enough to slaughter every man woman and child in that village but I would prefer avoiding that outcome. I have already a thought on how to resolve the problem, but I would first hear what you have to say...' Alsdair finishes and looks at you expectantly...

"Mmmmm this is good cheese."
Aten begins gnawing away at the bar of cheese.
"Oh right.. what were we talking about again?"
